Dear Professor Nof,
I wanted to thank you for your findings. This is a VERY interesting study. It's a unique theory and one that could be very possible:) Having deep spiritual beliefs in Christianity, I can understand the fires you must ignite with your findings. But I think faith is a matter of questioning ourselves, our beliefs, and the past. It's not my place to discredit your findings or to judge you in anyway. I think when it comes down to it, i believe in Jesus and God and their strength and belief in me. I'm not sure that discrediting the entirety of the bible will change that and it's times like this that define who we are (christians) as a people. I guess I just wanted to write and say we aren't all bad:) I appreciate your opinions and if theres one thing we can agree on, it's that Jesus and everything that the bible is, remains a mystery! That's what life is about, exploring, believing in something greater than ourselves, and hopefully finding purpose and happiness in that. Good luck to you in all your studies and future endeavors.

Sincerely and Respectfully,
Yancy L. Young

Subject: my apologies for those "Christians" who have sent you inflammatory responses

Dear Professor Doron Nof,

I read your theory that rather than walking on water Christ was actually walking on a floating pieces of ice. This is a very interesting notion. The traditional explanation of a "miraculous occurrence" still has greater appeal to me and takes less faith for me to believe. I can't imagine trying to walk on blocks of ice that are floating in the water. It surely would take a "miracle" just to stay on them. I am a Christian but I'm notgoing to send you any hate mail... and my apologies for those "Christians" who have sent you inflammatory responses. Keep looking for the truth because as a great man once said "the truth will set you (and all of us) free."

Blessings on your search and your research,
David Overmyer, M.Div., D.D.

Dear Dr. Nof:

I have read that you've been getting a lot of idiotic hate email. Spending any time deleting (or otherwise dealing with) such drivel is a drag and I sympathize.

I recently enjoyed reading a very interesting Associated Press article regarding research you co-authored (on the possibility that ice could have formed on the Sea of Galilee) that appeared in the April issue of the Journal of Paleolimnology.

Judging from the article, apparently some brickheaded people have decided they don't like you because you've communicated some carefully researched information that they imagine conflicts with their bizarre opinions and/or their twisted perceptions of reality.

I guess I take that as a sign that you must be doing something very right.

Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
Keith Loring

Subject: continue on

Dr. Nof, I applaud your research and publication of the articles referenced. I find them interesting and encourage you to continue research into areas that provoke thought. Anyone with an open mind will appreciate the possibilities presented and truth seeking attitude you and your staff have.

Normally I would not expect you to read this email, but since you are receiving many negative responses I thought I would let you know that there is at least one person with enough interest to encourage you to continue.

Natural explanations with no religous bias, either way, are warranted.

John Karsnak
